Mac Studio no digital output

Hi gang,
I recently got a new Mac studio and am having trouble getting audio out of my computer through my Omni. Im getting audio out of protools just fine but even with an optical cable going out of the computers 1/8th inch jack to the Omni optical input I'm not getting anything. Ive also already spoke to Avid support and they couldn't come up with an answer or solution.
Has anybody else has this issue and been able to solve it?
